TTMS: A Task Tree Based Workflow Management System
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, an approach to use task trees in a workflow management system (WfMS) is presented. As hierarchical models task trees capture several hierarchy levels of a workflow in one model. A workflow editor visualizes the models also as flowcharts similar to UML activity diagrams. The WfMS use these models as input and instantiates and executes them. The system is web-based and can be easily accessed by users with any browser clients. This paper motivates the approach to use task trees that produce hierarchical and structured workflow specifications. The proposed language might help endusers to better understand workflow models with its problem oriented hierarchical modeling character. Temporal operators from the task models are compared with certain operators from established workflow languages. In addition, in TTMS an instantiation time concept is implemented, where decision operators are evaluated at the very moment the process is instantiated. Consequently the task tree modeling language is enhanced for modeling decisions in the context of workflow management.

Multi-objective and Scalable Heuristic Algorithm for Workflow Task Scheduling in Utility Grids
To use services transparently in a distributed environment, the Utility Grids develop a cyber-infrastructure. The parameters of the Quality of Service such as the allocation-cost and makespan have to be dealt with in order to schedule workflow application tasks in the Utility Grids. Optimization of both target parameters above is a challenge in a distributed environment and may conflict one an...
متن کاملCycle Time Optimization of Processes Using an Entropy-Based Learning for Task Allocation
Cycle time optimization could be one of the great challenges in business process management. Although there is much research on this subject, task similarities have been paid little attention. In this paper, a new approach is proposed to optimize cycle time by minimizing entropy of work lists in resource allocation while keeping workloads balanced. The idea of the entropy of work lists comes fr...
متن کاملDecentralized and Flexible Workflow Enactment Based on Task Coordination Agents
Flexibility and distribution are major challenges of an advanced workflow management system, but have been addressed mostly separately from each other. In this paper, we present an agent-based workflow enactment service which combines flexible and decentralized workflow execution. Every task is coordinated by its own task (coordination) agent which interacts with related task agents by event pa...
متن کاملA Constrained Interface Refinement Method for Embedded System Design
This report presents a constrained interface approach to embedded system design. It traces the development of the Timed Transition Model (TTM) and proposes a higher level of abstraction, based on that model, that we call a Timed Transition Interface Model (TTIM). This model is the thread linking a method of hierarchical refinement, referred to here as Higher Order Embedded System Design (HOESD)...
متن کاملAutomatic Workflow Generation and Modification by Enterprise Ontologies and Documents
This article presents a novel method and development paradigm that proposes a general template for an enterprise information structure and allows for the automatic generation and modification of enterprise workflows. This dynamically integrated workflow development approach utilises a conceptual ontology of domain processes and tasks, enterprise charts, and enterprise entities. It also suggests...
